Knowing that travelers and patrons rely heavily on digital wayfinding to research tourism destinations whether for a night out or comprehensive trip-planning, this package aims to position local Whatcom County businesses for greater economic success by increasing and clarifying their digital exposure to prospective patrons and out-of-town visitors.

Tourism SEO Package
Bellingham Whatcom County Tourism (BWCT) is subsidizing a digital marketing package for local businesses that are members of BWCT in good standing!
Qualifying recipients will receive a one-time local SEO treatment valued at $1,500 and subsidized by BWCT at 50% (the cost to participating businesses will be $750 each).
Digital wayfinding has become the most common method for tourists to plan a trip — including Google and other search engines to research their destinations, as well as Google Maps, Yelp, TripAdvisor, etc. to learn more about business information and reviews — this tourism SEO package aims to set up local Whatcom County businesses for success by increasing and clarifying their digital exposure to prospective patrons and out-of-town visitors.
Our Digital Wayfinding SEO Strategy
Search engine optimization (SEO) is a multifaceted digital marketing strategy that leverages knowledge of how search engines function to improve a website’s visibility in online searches and increase traffic to the website of a brand or organization.
Depending on the digital needs of your business, this local SEO package may include a business and brand review, website review, keyword research, Google Business Profile audit or setup, and/or local directory listings. You will also receive a final report summarizing the work completed as well as further insights and recommendations based on your overall digital presence audit.
How to Apply
This application is open to all local businesses, events, and non-profits in the Whatcom County area who are interested in receiving digital marketing services to promote their organization. Applicants will be evaluated based on their relevance and appeal to tourists as well as the strength of their relationships with their local business communities.
Final recipients must:
- Be a Bellingham Whatcom County Tourism member in good standing
- Belong to a tourist-friendly industry
- Be currently open for business and visitor ready
Selection Process
Applicants will be evaluated and selected based on need, industry, visitor readiness, and ability to demonstrate their appeal to potential tourists. Businesses must be members of Bellingham Whatcom County Tourism in good standing and cannot be in the middle of or considering changes to their brand name, website, or physical address within the next year. Our first round of selected tourism SEO package recipients will be contacted in early 2023.
