This time of year, people all over are itching for a chance to support a cause they love. Giving Tuesday is a great opportunity for nonprofits to garner additional donations and for businesses to show their humanitarian side.
After a long weekend-long shopping spree e.g. Black Friday and Cyber Monday, #GivingTuesday is a chance to find the heart of the season, and carry on the spirit of giving. It is a soap box to stand on and say, “I dream of a brighter world!”
Do you already have a fundraiser up for #GivingTuesday? Or haven’t started anything at all? It’s not too late. Here are 3 last-minute things you can do.
3 Company Opportunities for #GivingTuesday
1. Launch a Facebook Fundraiser
Set up a fundraiser for a nonprofit that supports your company message. Drop in $5, and implore your fans to give by your side. Facebook will match donations up to $7 million. You can find the fundraiser button on the leftmost side of your Facebook home page.
2. Invite Fans to Write #MyGivingStory
Encourage your supporters to submit a short essay or video explaining why they love to give, and your nonprofit can be rewarded up to $10,000. You have until November 30th before the door closes.
3. Have an Impromptu Volunteer Event
It doesn’t take much planning to help your community. Encourage your employees to volunteer for a few hours out of the day in honor of #GivingTuesday. Look around your neighborhood for opportunities. If all else fails, bring a few garbage bags and gloves into work and invite everyone to clean up the side of the road. With only moments to spare, there are still things you can do to make the most out of #GivingTuesday. Get the word out: There’s still time.
